Protect your children from water hazards

Safety Turtle® is the only safety device that protects your children from water accidents by sounding an alarm the instant he or she falls or ventures into the water. Safety Turtle is an effective "last line of defense" to protect your children. Simply lock the Turtle wristband around your child's wrist. If he or she falls into the water, a loud alarm will sound at the Base Station. Turtle wristbands are available in child and adult length. An adaptor conveniently attaches the Turtle arms to any pet collar, life jacket strap or belt.

Easy to Use: The unique features of Safety Turtle make it convenient and easy to use. No installation in the pool is required. There is no need to turn the system off when the pool is in use or when it is being cleaned. Safety Turtle can easily be taken to another pool, to a boat, or to the cottage. Inserting a "Baby Turtle" plug into the Base Station sets it to recognize Turtles of a matching color. By using different colors of Turtle, neighbors can enjoy the benefits of Safety Turtle without triggering each other's alarms. A matching Baby Turtle is included with each Turtle wristband. The alarm volume can be temporarily for testing. Spray from lawn sprinklers won't trigger the alarm. The Turtle has a battery life of at least four years when used every day. Terrapin provides toll-free customer service.

Travel Pack: Parents can now rely on Safety Turtle as their last line of defense anywhere their child is exposed to a fresh water hazard, such as a cottage, a boat, a beach, or a public swimming pool. The coverage of a shoreline will always be limited, because the Base Station alarms on the presence, not the absence, of a signal. The User must be aware of the limits of coverage. In a clear line of site, with the Base Station at waist level or higher off the ground, typical range is 150 feet (45 meters). So a Base Station situated at a shoreline can potentially cover 150 feet (45 meters) in each direction, for total of 300 feet (90 meters) [Actual coverage varies and must be measured.] If the Base Station is set back from the shoreline, the length and in some cases the continuity of shoreline coverage will be reduced by: The set back distance, Signal reduced or blocked by trees, ridge, etc. Signal reduced or blocked by building exterior (if located indoors) In all cases and with all water hazards, coverage must be tested at set up using test mode.

Man Over Board: Children, adults and dogs are all potential "Man Overboard" (MOB) accident victims. A Safety Turtle MOB alarm instantly alerts others on board. In addition, a wireless lanyard version is available (see below) that simultaneously turns off the boat's engine, to prevent propeller injury and further reduce rescue time. A Safety Turtle MOB alarm does NOT substitute for a life jacket. While complementing a life jacket above deck, the Turtle should also be worn by young children below deck, as a last layer of protection.

Use In Fresh Water: The Turtle can signal from many feet under water. The Turtle may therefore be worn anywhere on the person, except under clothing that might prevent or delay it getting wet on entry in the water. Note: Pools and hot tubs have a much higher salt content and hence higher conductivity than natural fresh water. Therefore, when using with these water hazards, the Turtle should only be worn on the wrist. For further explanation: Please contact your GPS Nanny Agent.

Use In Sea or Brackish Water: With children, the Turtle should be attached to an upper rear strap of the life jacket, above the child's buoyancy line, but sure that the Turtle will get wet on entry and/or when bobbing in sea water. Older children and adults may wear Turtle on wrist, but hand must come out of water to activate alarm. This may require a conscious action by the victim. Warning: For alarming to occur in sea or brackish water, the Turtle must first get wet, then break the surface of the seawater. To test coverage around boat, troll Turtle on surface of water.

Battery Power: Note: If 12 volt battery power is conveniently accessible through a cigarette lighter plug, purchase Safety Turtle's 12 V lighter adaptor accessory rather than run Base Station from its AC adaptor and an inverter. At 75 milliamps, the direct draw of Base Station on a boat's battery is negligible. Note: Terrapin's Turtle Power battery pack may work as an uninterrupted power supply from either a 120 VAC or a 12 VDC primary source.

  • Battery operates for 9 hours on a full charge

  • Base Station provides a low battery warning

  • Battery can power the Base Station while it is being charged

  • Battery can be charged from any AC or 12V DC power source
